Alvestad Marin was established in 2003 by Runar Alvestad as it was realized that there was a need for further development of technical and practical solutions in order to maintain and develop the competitive edge of the fish farming industry. AM’s main products are now well established in all the salmon producing countries and the company has a subsidiary in Chile.

Our business idea AM is to develop, manufacture and market products and services to the aquaculture business in the Norwegian and international markets.  By means of good contact with the business, the development will be governed by the need for efficiency improvement, quality improvement and quality assurance.

Our vision AM is to be an innovative enterprise for the aquaculture business with a main focus on solutions for increased efficiency and better quality.

AM have succeeded in developing, patenting and commercialising unique solutions for the production of fry. AM was nominated for the Innovation Award during the Aqua Nor trade fair in Trondheim in 2005. Further, the company has received favourable mentioning in the professional periodicals, hereby the reputable periodical Fish Farming International.

Project meeting

New product In the summer of 2008, AM signed an IFU contract (Innovasjon Norge) with SINTEF Fishery and Aquaculture AS as R&D partner. The project is still running with Marine Harvest and Smøla Klekkeri og Settefisk AS is demanding customer partners. The goal has been to develop and test a new concept for the hatching of salmon fry based on recirculation technology. After two years of intensive work, we have developed the recirculation facility KUBE^®, which has the following features:

• Turn-key

KUBE^® was exhibited in the Aqua Nor 2009 fair in full scale, with all the water treatment steps implemented. The product is currently being tested with Marine Harvest Norway’s facility in Steinsvik. AM has applied for patent for elements in the new concept.
