Efficient feeding The consumption of feed is the greatest single cost item related to fish farming. DPF® can improve both growth and an economic feed factor considerably.
Optimal positioning Spill of feed due to currents is reduced as the DPF® continuously optimizes the distance between the feeding point and the feed collector. The pellets are prevented from drifting outside of the funnel and the fish have a larger area in which to eat the feed.
Manner of operation The DPF® consists of a winch, an ocean current meter and a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) which regulates the feed collector so that at all times it has an optimal position with reference to the ocean current and the collection capacity.
Depth regulation up and down by means of a programmed connection between current velocity and ideal depth. In this manner the pellets are prevented from drifting outside of the feed collector when there are strong ocean currents. When the current decreases, the collector is lowered again. If the ocean current becomes critically strong, the feeding is stopped. The invention has been patented in Norway and in Chile. |
